The Discover Mermaid ‘ experience introduces simple mermaid activities in confined water (i.e., a pool or place with pool-like conditions), shallow enough in which to stand, for the first time!
It is designed as a flexible, informative, enjoyable, and controlled experience centered on letting you discover what it’s like to mermaid dive.
To enroll in a Discover Mermaid experience, you must be at least six years old. You need to be in good physical health and comfortable in the water.
Requirements: Minimum age 6 years old up to adult. No prior experience with snorkeling, skin diving or freediving is required.
Max Depth: Water shallow enough in which to stand
Equipment: Dive mask, monofin & mermaid tail (if you don’t have, we can provide it for you)
The PADI Basic Mermaid â„¢’ course combines learning supporting knowledge and principles with a confined water skill development session to introduce the fun of fundamental mermaid diving. The course covers mermaid diving’s background and culture, primary safety considerations, equipment and basic water skills.
Age Requirement: minimum age 6 years old up to adult
Pre-requisite: Ability to swim at least 50m/160ft without swimming aids and float comfortably at the surface for at least 3 minutes.
Max Depth: 3m/10ft
Equipment: Dive mask, monofin & mermaid tail (if you don’t have , we can provide it for you)
The PADI Mermaid ” course is perfect for beginner to intermediate mermaids.
Learn correct buddy procedures & how to safely swim in a mermaid tail. Students are introduced to special techniques & knowledge, including use of mermaid equipment, swimming techniques, performance skills and breathing techniques for diving.
Learn about mermaid diving culture, the mammalian dive response, proper breathing techniques before making a dive, apnea (breath-holding), correct buddy procedures, mermaid safety and how to respond correctly in the event of an emergency. You will also learn turns, performance skills, exhale descents, water entry, how to swim efficiently while wearing a tail (or monofin) & how to care for equipment.
(ote that the PADI Mermaid course includes Basic Mermaid, so you can start with PADI Mermaid – there is no need to take Basic Mermaid separately.)
Age Requirement: You must be at least 10 years old
Prerequisites: Must be able to swim 50m and float for 5 minutes
Max Depth: 5m/15ft
Equipment: Dive mask, monofin & mermaid tail, dive weight, dive belt (if you don’t have, we can provide it for you)
In the PADI Advanced Mermaid â„¢ course, you will dive deeper and improve comfort level in the water.
Learn about mermaid diving culture, the mammalian dive response, proper breathing techniques before making a dive, apnea (breath-holding), correct buddy procedures, mermaid safety & how to respond correctly in the event of an emergency. You will also learn turns, performance skills, exhale descents, water entry, how to swim efficiently while wearing a tail (or mono fin) and how to care for equipment. During the open water sessions, you will learn about different water conditions, how to assess conditions (currents, tides), how to determine proper weighing. how to interact with aquatic life and how to rescue an unresponsive mermaid diver at the surface.
1-2 days pool session and 1-2 days of with ocean open water trip.
Age Requirement: You must be at least 12 years old
Pre-requisite:
- Ability to swim at least 100m/320ft without swim aids
- Ability to float comfortably at the surface for at least 10 minutes.
- Must have completed the PADI Mermaid course.
Max Depth: 10m/30ft
